Today I would like to talk about manga and animu. Again.
But first, a story!
Many years ago, there was a girl whose mom loved cats. She loved them big time: furry ones, fat ones, multicolored ones, you name it. the cats loved thar mom as well, because the woman fed like a turkey for thanksgiving, and let them sleep on her bed, and let them climb on her like she was a damn tree, dug up her vegetable garden, and all the fun times. She even talked to them, and spend a lot of time naming them and taking care of them.
The girl also had a sister who also loved cats (mostly because of the mom), but who had to give it away because having a cat in an appartment is unbearable.
The girl loved cats big time, because cats were awesome. Because her mom loved them, there were a couple of them around all the time for years and years.
In the end, because of all the cat fur, the girl developed a mild skin allergy and is not allowed to have cats anymore. Or dogs for that matter.
The End.
Yeah, that's a true story of my familly and me. And Cats.
And now for the manga and animu.
Every cat lover I know is obsessive. The cats are to be fed, played with, and totally loved. That is what usually is expected from cat lover by other (normal) people and from cats themselves. Because every cat lover knows: cats are dicks.
As a matter of pure coincidence, I stumbled across the anime Nyan-Koi! on this fine holidays. Remember that "Cats are dicks" thing I said like ten seconds ago?
This anime/manga is that statement OVER 9000.
Let me go into details:
The Plot:
There was this guy who had an allergy for cats. Because his siblings were sadistic, they had the same cat ever since he was a kid, but that doesn't really matter. So one day, while the guy was returning from school, he was kicking the can an insidentally broke the staues of a local cat god thing. Now he is curse, can understand cats better than doctor Dolittle, and has to solve all the problems of the local cats to get uncursed. In his quest, he is helped by his cat, the other cat, and some other cats. Oh if he doesn't lift the curse - wait for it - he is going to turn into a cat himself and die of the allergy he is going to have FOR HIMSELF.
The Characters:
+
The guy: The protagonist of the series, failing at life as any other teenage boy does. But in a rather cool way. His karma just hates him.
+
Cat #1: The cool cat, withthe cool face, and a cool scarf. And a fixed opiniong that her owner is an idiot.
+
Cat #2: The Annoying Cat (I kinda love him the most becuase he so reminds me of my mother's cats). The cat for a dynamic duo with Cat #1 (which makes me sorry for a poor creature, two idiots in one packeage is a bit too much).
+
Girl #1: The love interest. I like her. I don't usually like the airheads, but She Is Hardcore Adorable.
+
Girl #2: The childhood friend. This character taught me a little bit about Japanese culture which made me go WTF. The more you know.
+
Nagi (on the chair): I Love Nagi. You will love Nagi to if you knew how awesome Nagi is.
+
Twins: don't care for them much, they are kinda annoying.
+
The Postwoman: You know, there is this thing that sometimes you think: "Hah, that is so this one person I know." This is what's happening to this particular character. The moment I first watched an episode with her, I thought: "If
lampazo_libre was a manga/anime character, that would be her."
The Crack: ALL OVER THE PLACE.
kiokushitakaa will appreciate the randomly appearing guy in skirts. And CATZ.
The Art: Pretty good, as you might have seen from the character examples. This is one of the rare cases when the anime leaves the character designs almost identical to the original, which made mepersonally very happy.
The Story: Is like a catchy tune. I started watching the first episode because I was bored and before I knew it, I was half way through the first season.
